France’s AMF Cracks Down on 90 Unlicensed Crypto Firms as MiCA Deadline Looms
France's financial watchdog has identified 90 cryptocurrency companies operating without MiCA licenses as the June 30 deadline approaches. Nearly half have shown no intention to comply, while 30% remain unresponsive to regulatory notices.
The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) has already granted approvals to industry players like CoinShares and Relai. Non-compliant firms face mandatory shutdowns by July, creating potential market disruptions.
This enforcement action comes as Europe's landmark Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation begins full implementation. The AMF's November 2025 notifications appear to have yielded mixed results, with many firms either unwilling or unable to meet the new standards.
